Luxurious Lake District and Spectacular North Yorkshire -

Valerie, October 2025

My best friend and I had a delightful time with Nick from YorTours. We spent 3 nights in the Lake District and 3 nights in North Yorkshire. Nick organised an itinerary that took us through the literary history of the areas - Beatrix Potter, William Wordsworth, and the Bronte sisters. Our time in the Lake District was well organised and we left truly appreciating the impact of conservation on the area, Beatrix Potters'; commitment to preserving The Lakes, and can appreciate the inspiration artists and poets have drawn from the area over the centuries. We are also now relative Herdwick sheep enthusiasts after an educational and hands on experience.

We enjoyed our 'surprise'; day as we transited through the Yorkshire Dales with a quaint tea stop at the historic Ribblehead Train Depot and a fantastic cheese-making tour and tasting at Wensleydale Creamery. Our day in York was fantastic including the highlights of York Minster, the York Museum & Gardens, the Jorvik Viking Centre and a walking tour inclusive of The Shambles. The trip to the Bronte Parsonage in Haworth was a personal favorite and Nick arranged for a local Bronte enthusiast to bring their story to life just for us.

Throughout the trip, Nick went above and beyond - from the local welcome snacks, to sorting lunch and dinner bookings, and even a shopping trip when luggage failed to arrive. Nick's knowledge and expertise is best described as one of our hotel staff put it, "If Nick doesn't know it, it probably isn't worth knowing." I highly recommend YorTours and look forward to a future adventure and more experiences. And he has the most lovely and luxurious car too!

Jane, Travel Writer, NSW, Australia

Nick’s meticulous attention to detail was reflected in every aspect of our five days with him. He interpreted our interests, offering new insights and richness to our stay. He was across everything, answered and expanded on our questions and placed historical details in their context so we Australians felt included in the grand scheme of things! Nick is a lively and charming companion who knows the best places for just about everything.
